About Bo

Robert “Bo” Arvin was born in southern Illinois in December 1990. By the time he was 6 months old, a “mark” had formed on his cheek. His mom was always told it was just a birthmark. Around the age of 7, it was then decided it was not just a birthmark, and along with a few areas on his back, all suspicious spots were removed for being cancerous.

When Bo was a freshman at CORLHS in 2006, he was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma. Bo fought incredibly hard the next few years going through chemo and radiation. He finally received a stem cell transplant at Children's Hospital in St. Louis, Mo in January 2008. During his junior year, he was told it was in remission.

For the next decade, Bo lived his life. He played soccer and basketball. He was Prom King his senior year. He graduated high school. He spent as much time as possible with his friends who had supported him. He went to his first NBA game with his cousin. Bo found his dog best friend in Jax. He and Jax moved to Chicago with his best friends, and got to witness the city celebrate the Cubs win the World Series.

After spending time in Chicago, he decided to move to Colorado Springs, CO and lived with three of his best friends. Bo absolutely loved everything about Colorado. He loved the scenery, hikes, the people. Colorado became his happy place.

In January of 2018, Bo found a lump. Knowing his history, he pushed for tests even though many were saying it was just a cyst. In March of 2018, he was diagnosed with Epithelioid sarcoma. He fought harder than he ever had before, he did not want to miss anything in life.

On October 20, 2018, Bo passed away surrounded by his family in Carlyle, IL.

Bo was the most kind and hilarious individual! He definitely knew how to make people laugh.

Crystal, cousin
